Posted by: | Comments (1)

The Ukulele has made a popular comeback over the past little while.  This is a fun instrument to play as you’ll learn at the Ukulele Band Camps this Summer.  The Ukulele Band Camps will be instructed by Torry Doyle.

Here’s Torry and Stephen with a little sample of some fine ukulele music…

Torry’s Specials!

Torry’s Specials!

Hey Spring has finally arrived in the St.Catharines, Niagara area (we hope).  So to celebrate we’ve brought in some cool new products here at Ryson’s.

To go along with the colours of Spring we’ve got a great new Daisy Rock Guitar in the green sparkle finish.  This is an awesome guitar, made especially for girls, it’s light, easy to play, and just $499.00.

How about crazy neon coloured guitar strings?  We’ll we’ve got ‘em!  But they don’t just look bright in their colours but they will actually last longer than regular dull coloured strings.  Have some fun with your gutter and save some money too.

Don’t forget to join Torry at the Ukulele Day Camp Bring your uke and tiptoe through the tulips with modern hits, classical, traditional…almost anything on the ukulele.

Summer Band Camps are fun for all.

Posted by: | Comments (1)

Here’s another little video of some of our students along with Tim Popek just havin’ some fun.  Hope you enjoy!

Our band camps are a time when the students get to break from the normal routine in their music lessons.  They get to be a little more casual with the teachers and to mingle and jam with other students.  This opens up a whole new experience for many and it’s very beneficial to their musical education.

Learning to play music with others is quite a bit different than just a one on one with your music teacher.  You’ll see how it feels to play in a band and who knows, you might even end up in one.  Hey, the Golden Hammers and the Rockin’ Daisies did.

Don’t miss out on Ryson’s Summer Band Camps beginning in July.  Register today as these spots fill up pretty quickly.

The Golden Hammers are a great example of how getting some music students to jam together can turn into a success.  This group was made up of Rysons music students.  They were organized, and taught to play together through the dedication of Dave Tufford.  Then we went to work and began to promote the Golden Hammers across the Niagara area.  The rest as they say is history.

Are you interested in learning to play with other music students?  Would you like to be in a band someday?  The best place to get started is at our Summer Band Camps.

Beginning in July we’ll have band camps for Pop, Rock, Glee, Musical Theatre, Piano, Elton John and Billy Joel style, Fiddle, and much much more.

Give us a call to register today.  You’ll be glad you did.

Once again, we’ll be running our Ryson’s Band Camps during the months of July and August.  These are always great events and the students and parents, and teachers, have so much fun.

As we get closer to the event, we’ll be sending out some details but for now I thought I’d just share a little promo video for the Band Camps.  This one done by our very own Rockin’ Daisies who were formed at Band Camp.

It’s one thing to take music lessons…but it’s an entirely different experience at band camp.  Hope you’ll be there.

Enjoy the video…

Anne.

Our own “Golden Hammers” and “Rockin’ Daisies” are competing in the “Niagara Talent Search 2011″ at the Greg Frewin Theatre in Niagara Falls.

This is a terrific opportunity for these two talented groups and we hope you’ll lend them your support.

The Niagara Talent Search is an American Idol style competition whereby the judges have their votes and input, but so do the audience.  But you must be in attendance to vote for your favourite group.

The Hammers, and Daisies will be playing on April 5th beginning at 7:00 p.m.  The event is held at the Greg Frewin Theatre which is located at 5781 Ellen Avenue Niagara Falls.  Tickets are on sale at $20.00 each or 12 for $150.00.

We hope you’ll plan to attend this exciting event and support our “Golden Hammers”, and “Rockin’ Daisies”.

We’ve just received a beautiful new Daisy Rock Debutante Star Guitar!

The Debutante Star Short Scale features Daisy Rock’s “Slim & Narrow” nick design.  This neck design makes it easier to play for girls with smaller hands.
The lightweight of the Debutante Star is comfortable to play and easier to manage.  Plus, the shorter and more manageable 22 1/2″ is  a great size for smaller, younger girls.

This is a fun design, hey if their guitar is fun, they’ll practice more.

Here’s a real review from a Daisy Rock Guitar owner;

Hi Daisy Rock,

My name is Rebecca and I’m a 12 year old guitarist and I love guitars. I am currently taking lessons on the acoustic guitar and I love it. Then when I found out about Daisy Rock I was so excited to get an electric Guitar. I think it is really cool how you make guitars just for girls it is awesome and I really inspire you guys for thinking up such an awesome idea my fave electric guitars in your series are the rock candy ones I also like the heartbreaker series. I was trying so hard to convince my mom to get me one so eventually she said yes so in a month or two I will be a proud owner of a Daisy Rock guitar. I am so excited because me and 4 other girls have a band that has to do with stars we sing in my basement while we also make up songs. My friend Amanda also plays the guitar like me and my other friend who has the same name as me plays the key board and my other two friends sing and dance I really believe that my band could really go far. We go by THE SHOOTING STARS (please don’t tell any one our name I want it to be a secret but I think I can trust You guys) and the thing I have wished for more then anything is a star guitar when I heard about you guys I was excited you would have a guitar shaped like a Star but you don’t I know for a fact if you made star guitars many people would buy them because I mean who doesn’t like stars. Please it would mean so much too me if you guys looked into making Star Guitars but it may be too hard. With our without Star Guitars You guys will still Rock and always be inspired by me but PLEAZZ look in to making Star guitars it would mean so much thanks. Star Lover who hopes for star guitars.

WOW!  Imagine surprising your Young Lady Rocker with a new Daisy Rock Debutante Star just in time for our March Break Band Camps.

It’s March Break Band Camp Time Again!!!

Posted by: | Comments (4)

Every time we have our Band Camps we have a great group of students who really enjoy playinginstruments and having fun with their teachers.  Whether it’s Rock, Jazz, Blues, Country, Fiddle, or Musical Theatre, everyone has a great time!

Well Good News!

It’s March Break Band Camp Time Again!!!

  • From Monday March 14th to Saturday March 19th.
  • Classes from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

This year we’ll be doing; Musical Theatre, Brass and Woodwinds, and of course Guitar.  In addition, there’ll be a Fiddle Band Camp, and Ukulele lessons with Torry Doyle.

Those joining Tim Popek and Jordan Phelan’s Band Camp are in for a real treat this year.  These great Rysons’ teachers have been touring with the “Stars of Pop”, a tribute show to Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Jonas Brothers, Lady Gaga, and many other Pop Stars.  They’re just back from their tour to PEI and Stage West in Toronto.  The tour might also be going to Mexico and Texas.  Here’s a great opportunity for you to not only learn some music from their shows, and have some fun but get to talk with these professional musicians about this popular tour.

Tim and Jordan aren’t the only ones in the spotlight these days. Our very own Dave Tufford is just back from a tour in Australia with his “Good Rockin’ Tonight” show.  Dave is looking forward to having some fun at the Band Camps and is also getting ready to open his new show, “The Beatles Live”.

For the Metal Rockers Paul Anderson will be holding Band Camp.

Musical Theatre Camps will be doing Broadway, Musical Theatre , Popular,  complete ,with props, sheet music, and actions  to perform.  The Musical Theatre will be directed by Janice Sinnema, Anna Vogt, and our own Lauren Gasbarini.  And more GREAT NEWS!  We’ve just received the latest sheet music from Glee!

If Fiddle is your choice instrument you’re in luck. Beth Bartley, who is engaged in her “Broadband” tour, will be leading the Fiddle Band Camps, along with Lauren Leprich.

Torry Doyle will be taking a break from running the store area to provide Ukulele Band Camps.

Here’s what our students had to say about our last Band Camp;

“I love Band Camp!” “I made new friends and learned new songs on my guitar.” “I hope to be at Band Camp again either this year or next.”
“Band Camp was amazing!” “I wish it was longer.”
“Band Camp was awesome!” “I had a great time to learn drums and Anne is so nice she reminds me of my Grandmother.”
“Band Camp is a fantastic way to spend the week and I learn to play my new 5 string bass.” “Thank You!”

“Great experience!” “I can’t wait ’til the next one.” “My teachers were awesome!”

Students can participate in our Band Camps either for a day or for the entire week.
We welcome guitar, violin, brass and woodwinds, bass, drums, voice, musical theatre, piano, and a fun filled fiddle camp as well for both adults and children.

If you don’t have an instrument, don’t let that stop you!

We’ll lend you one for the day or the week.

For a fun time and musical education, please give me a call at
Ryson’s Studios; 905-682-6832 or send me an email to; anne@rysonsmusic.com
We hope you’ll join us! Bring a friend and share this wonderful musical experience.

See you then,
Anne.
